The European Association for the History of Nursing (EAHN) is a pan-European organisation supporting the study of nursing history. As historians we are keen to capture the experiences of nurses and midwives across Europe at this time. 2020 is the international year of the Nurse and the Midwife. We could not have imagined the changes that would take place in our health care systems, nor the challenges facing nurses and midwives as the pandemic swept across Europe. It is important that we capture these moments now so that we can look back on them in better times.
We are asking nurses and midwives to consider sharing a photograph of themselves (faces hidden for anonymity) and a reflection on how they are feeling during this time. We will publish this on the EAHN website. As we get stories from the different countries we hope it will help us all understand this European problem, and how nursing is truly a universal profession.
You can see the work we have started with some of the nurses in Italy: http://eahn.net/covid-19-nurses/ . If you would like to help us please send your picture and your text to firstname.lastname@example.org . Once your story is online you will have an opportunity to see it, and ask for changes, before it is made public.
